5 out of 5 stars I highly recommend it!   December 25, 2007
In every way, Incense, Crafting and Use of Magickal Scents by Carl F. Neal, provides a wealth of information and instruction!

He makes a very complicated subject easy to understand. I'm usually not good at learning how to do complicated things from books, but the style of the writer helped me change that misunderstanding about myself. Yes, it was a joy to read and learn and do.. with this book

It's not just a "how to' book, it gives readers... a sense of reverence for incense and the making... that adds to the energy of the whole experience of actually making incense yourself!

The Author's style of writing and knowledge makes this book a rare and delightful jewel for any magical collection.

I highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars Your imagination is your only limit   June 29, 2007

I purchased this and Scott Cunninghams Incense Oils and Brews. Although I am a great fan of Scott Cunningham, this books has some of the best selections, directions, and recipes for making your own incense. He gives you the energy of the magic and the measurements for making fool-proof incense. What I particularly liked about this book is that the herbs, woods, resins, and binders are readily available on the internet and resources are given in the back of the book. I also liked the sincerity of his concerns for the plant itself (killing vs. non-killing). It appears this book was written with great love.

5 out of 5 stars Way Beyond the Basics   May 1, 2007

Carl Neal has written a book that goes way beyond the basics most magickal people are familiar with when making incense for specific spells or rituals. As someone who has been making incenses for 20 years, I learned more from a workshop of Carl's than I have from any other book or teacher. I cannot wait for a sequel!
